It's been a busy month, got in at the ArtFlorida Exhibition with the painting that you see here where you are looking up at palm trees. Then I also got in at the Homestead Art Show with the flamingo painting which was a lot of fun to paint. To top that I had to turn in 3 paintings to the Co-op gallery I belong to "Heart of the Grove" Gallery. I will be participating in 2 plein air competitions in November so I will keep you updated. Those competitions are crazy, you paint outside whether is raining, it's hot or cold

Tropical paintings Portfolio

Imaginative Paintings Portfolio

These are paintings that come from ideas I get in my dreams or phrases that catch my attention. I have fun putting all the elements together and bringing these figments of my imagination to life with paint.

Figurative Paintings

Figures are very challenging and fun to paint. Currently I am working on images and photos of my mom's photo album. She was born in 1939 and her black and white photos of her childhood and her youth have always grabbed my attention. It is a time that has gone and everything seems more romantic and it even seems to be a calming influence in my art. So for this reason I am painting from these photos. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy painting them.

Orquid Show

Wow, I got to finish my painting for the World Orchid Conference currently in Miami until the 28th of January. It is a great show to attend if you love orchids and you are in Miami. It is at the Merchandise Mart Sheraton Hotel. A couple of months ago I purchased an orchid and I thought it was going to be hard to take care of it but the blooms lasted from August to just today the last flower fell off.I also got another orchid for Xmas as a present to a friend I had to keep it in the bathroom because my cat LOVES to chew leaves (learned that the hard way with the one that I purchased, he left me only one leaf intact, the rest are chewed up) (Got to keep the door of my bathroom closed so he doesn't get it) Now the orchid I got for my friend is the one I used for the painting, it was not only spectacular in color and shape but it left the bathroom smelling great.I just started with one orchid and now after researching and seeing the flowers in this show I know I can honestly say I will be collecting orquids they are fabulous to have and a lot of fun to paint. I am slowly building a garden in the back of my house and I will be sharing the paintings I am going to be making using my plants as models. I was in such a hurry to turn in this painting that I forgot to take a picture, I will be going to the show tomorrow and post a better picture.Oops
